The short version
KICKOLÉ has no accounts and no sign-in. You can play the whole game without giving us anything. The only information that ever leaves your device is the leaderboard entry you choose to send, and only if you tap Join leaderboard.
The leaderboard
The leaderboard is off until you tap Join leaderboard. If you join, we send:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| A nickname you pick from our word lists | So other players can see who set the score |
| A random device id created on your device | To keep your scores together and let you delete them |
| Your score | The leaderboard itself |
| How your run went (combo, run length and the timing of your kicks) | To check scores are genuine and limit cheating. We check the kick timings when your score is sent and do not keep them. |
| A country you choose, or International | Country boards, and the flag shown beside your nickname. We never use GPS or a network lookup to work out where you are |
| A hashed IP address, kept for up to 30 days | To limit cheating. We store only a hash, not the raw address |
What other players see. Your nickname, your score and the flag of the country you chose are shown together on the leaderboard, so anyone who looks at the leaderboard can see them. Choosing a country is optional. We show only the flag of the country you chose, nothing more precise, and we never show where you actually are. Please don't use your real name as a nickname.
Choosing International keeps you off every country board, and no country flag is shown beside your nickname.
When the leaderboard shows. A leaderboard only appears once it has 20 or more players.
Reports. If someone reports your nickname or score, we keep that report for up to 90 days so we can look at it, or longer if it is still open. We do not tell you who reported you.
Deleting your leaderboard data. Tap Delete my leaderboard data in Settings. That removes your nickname and scores. Reports that are still open are kept until we have dealt with them, then deleted once they are more than 90 days old. If you have been reported, hidden or banned, we keep an empty record, with only a random id and no nickname or country, until about 90 days after the last report or moderation action about you.
What we do not do
- No account, no email address, no name, no date of birth.
- No in-app purchases and no coin balances. The game is bought once, upfront.
- No advertising, and no advertising or analytics SDKs in the app.
- No chat. Players cannot message each other.
- No location. We never ask for GPS or device location.
- We do not sell your data or share it for marketing.
Children
KICKOLÉ is a football game that children play, so we have followed the ICO's Children's Code (Age Appropriate Design Code):
- no accounts and no personal details asked for;
- the leaderboard is off until you choose to join, and the country question is optional and says the flag is shown publicly beside your nickname;
- nicknames are chosen from our own word lists, which are screened for offensive, abusive and identifying words, and you can change yours only once every 7 days;
- no chat, no advertising, no profiling and no behavioural tracking;
- no nudge techniques to push you into sharing more;
- a Report option on every leaderboard entry, with clear reasons.
If you are under 18, please ask a parent or carer before you join the leaderboard.
Who helps us
- Supabase — stores the leaderboard entries. Data is held in London, UK.
- Cloudflare — hosts the game.
- Apple and Google — handle the purchase, as separate controllers. We never see your payment details.
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or safeguards UK law accepts, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Leaderboard entry (nickname, device id, score, country) | Until you delete it, or about 2 years after you last played, whichever comes first. If you have been reported, hidden or banned, an empty record (random id only) stays until about 90 days after the last report or moderation action about you, or longer if a report about you is still open. |
| Your scores, combo and run length | Until you delete them, or 12 months after the run, whichever comes first |
| Hashed IP address | Up to 30 days |
| Reports about a player | Up to 90 days, or longer while a report is still open |
